A vPolyTan series of surface-mount polymer tantalum moulded chip capacitors, which are available in five compact case sizes, has been released by Vishay Intertechnology. Featuring ultra-low ESR down to 30mΩ at +25°C and 100kHz, the T55 series is optimised for computer, telecomm and industrial applications.

The low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) of the devices is a result of integrated polymer cathodes, which offer enhanced performance over manganese dioxide devices. In addition, the capacitors provide low ESR for enhanced charge and discharge characteristics. The T55 series is suitable for power management, battery decoupling and energy storage in computers, tablets, smart phones and wireless cards.

Offered in the J, P, A, B and T (low-profile B – 1.2mm max.) case sizes, the capacitors feature a wide capacitance range from 3.3 to 330µF over voltage ratings from 2.5 to 10V; capacitance tolerance of ±20%; and maximum ripple current carrying capability to 1.78A IRMS. The devices operate over a temperature range of -55 to +105°C with voltage derating above +85°C.

Featuring lead (Pb)-free terminations, the T55 series is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free and Vishay GREEN. The devices are compatible with high-volume automatic pick-and-place equipment and offer a moisture sensitivity level of 3.

Samples and production quantities of the T55 series are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
