Designed to protect audio and low voltage interfaces, the µClamp 3321ZA high-performance TVS diode has been introduced by Semtech. The single-line diode offers a unique combination of features that protect increasingly sensitive interfaces such as the audio, uSIM and uSD ports found in today’s portable electronic devices.

Built on Semtech’s highly differentiated process technologies that achieve industry leading clamping voltages, the µClamp3321ZA delivers optimal transient protection for safeguarding devices operating at 3.3V. The µClamp3321ZA features low dynamic resistance, which provides fast response to transients, as well as best in class, low-clamping voltage to protect audio codecs from damage through audio jacks. It is housed in a fully-encapsulated 0.6x0.3mm package with a nominal height of only 0.25mm, which provides a more robust solution than conventional CS solutions. In addition, the µClamp3321ZA extends the battery life of end-user applications by providing low reverse leakage current of under 1nA (typical).

Rick Hansen, Product Marketing Director, Protection Products Group, Semtech, commented: “As more and more interfaces on portable applications operate at 3.3V, it is essential to safeguard them with transient voltage suppressors that are specially designed to support low working voltages. The µClamp3321ZA offers superior protection in a tiny package. The µClamp3321ZA expands Semtech’s low voltage product family and gives customers peace of mind knowing that their products are well protected from ESD events.”

The µClamp3321ZA (order code: µClamp3321ZATFT) is available immediately in production quantities, priced at $0.07 each in 15,000 unit quantities.
