knitter-switch, one of Europe’s leading switch manufacturers, has made a significant addition to its dual-in-line (DIL) switch product family with the launch of the SBS 5000 J series. Designed for surface mount applications across a wide range of market sectors, the SBS 5000 J DIL switch series features gold plated brass “j-hook” terminals which take up less room on host PCB’s. The SBS 5000 J can be specified with either recessed actuators for protection against accidental operation, which also allow switches to be taped for automatic insertion during manufacture, or raised actuators for easier operation by users. The switches are end to end stackable and come with 4, 8 or 10 poles.
In addition, knitter-switch has used the latest materials, including LCP and PA9T, to build extra reliability into their customer’s end products. LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer) is a high-melting-point thermoplastic material which can be injection moulded and has natural hydrophobic properties that limits moisture absorption to improve reliability. PA9T is a high melting point polymer with has several superior features to conventional materials including low moisture absorbency, high chemical resistance and superior dimensional stability. These new materials improve the switch’s resistance to soldering and washing during automated PCB assembly. These tests are required by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) who have been working with industry and government for more than 100 years to set the standards needed to ensure that fire and security products perform effectively.

Applications for the SBS 5000 J include security and alarm systems, communications devices, remote controllers and industrial and building automation systems.

Standard switches are available from a number of distributors throughout Europe. Samples are usually available on next day delivery. For more information visit www.knitter-switch.com
