Passive components target DOCSIS 3.1 CATV
A portfolio of passive components designed for DOCSIS 3.1 CATV (Complaint Cable TV) and broadband Internet systems has been released by M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings (MACOM). According to the company, this is the industry’s broadest portfolio of passives specifically designed to comply with the DOCSIS 3.1 standard for high-bandwidth data transfer over existing hybrid fibre-coaxial infrastructure.
The portfolio includes upstream and downstream transformers/baluns, couplers and power dividers/combiners. MACOM’s passive components have been specifically designed for next-gen infrastructure head-end and access equipment for cable network plants. To deliver a multi-gigabit service to subscribers, these plants require high-performance actives and passives. Passives optimised for DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1 subscriber equipment, such as STBs, home gateways and cable modems, are also offered by the company.
Offering extended bandwidths, and improved insertion loss, return loss, power handling, distortion and temperature stability, the passives enable optimum system performance.
