Coilcraft has announced the release of a new coupled chip power inductor series, the compact PFD3215 Series. Providing high efficiency and excellent current handling in a rugged and low-cost part, the dual-wound PFD3215 is designed for use in a variety of circuits including flyback, multi-output buck and SEPIC.

Featuring a 1:1 turns ratio, these versatile inductors can also be used as two single inductors connected in series or parallel, as a wideband transformer or as a common mode choke. An ideal choice for applications with limited board space and low profile requirements, the PFD3215 series inductors measure just 3.2 mm x 2.3 mm x 1.5 mm.

Offered in 8 inductance values from 0.39uH to 10uH, the PFD3215 features current ratings to 2.4 Amps. Target applications for the new coupled chip power inductor series include tablets and other battery-operated mobile devices requiring precise voltage regulation, efficient charging, and maximum operating time.

With free evaluation samples and parts available from stock, the PFD3215 is priced at $0.31 (USD) each in 1,000 piece quantities.
