The latest new product from Lorlin Electronics is its DSL Mains Lock Switch which is fitted with a high security key switch mechanism and is intended for safety and security applications or where control by authorised users only is essential.
Manufactured at Lorlin’s own factory in the UK, the DSL lock switch is a rugged design, simple to mount and RoHS compliant. The lock is mounted to the panel from the front and the electrical switch snaps on to the back of the mechanism. The high security key is a dimpled design, which operates a 6-pin lock with a 90° movement. The key may be inserted into the lock either way up and withdrawn in both the locked and unlocked switch positions.

Over 15,000 key combinations are available with options of all different keys or common “pass” keys for applications requiring single key control of multiple secure systems by supervisors or service engineers.

The DSL lock switch is rated for currents between 4 to 80A at 250VAC over an operating life of >10,000 cycles. The switch has an operating temperature range of –25 to +85°C, is flame retardant to UL94 V0 and approved to EN 61058. Connection is made via plated brass solder terminals or using optional PCB terminals and two switching options are available, 2-pole off/on (normally open) or 2-pole on/off (normally closed). With a 3mm contact gap the snap-on switch mechanism provides mains safety isolation to 3KV. The switch contacts are silver cadmium and the lock housing is zinc alloy, bright chrome plated with a parallel-sided lock head.

Dan Walker, Sales manager at Lorlin Electronics comments, “Our new DSL switch is an important new product for designers and manufacturers of security equipment. Secure access to electrical panels, safety shutters, alarms and monitoring systems has become a major factor in system design to prevent tampering or unauthorised access or use. The DSL lock switch offers both a high security key mechanism and a rugged, reliable electrical switch.”

Typical applications for the Lorlin DSL mains lock switch include, security shutters, alarm and security control panels in airports, prisons, police stations etc, factory equipment, instrumentation and electrical control panels. The new DSL key switch is available direct from Lorlin or from Farnell InOne.
