A new range of rocker switches from Marquardt, protected to IP65, is now available from Quadrant, the Hertfordshire-based connector and cable component distributor.

The Marquardt 1881 range has a sleek, round design, a shallow installation depth of only 18.7mm, long life and excellent switching characteristics due to a low friction ball contact. This makes the range ideal for use in small household appliances, lighting systems, office equipment, computer peripherals, laboratory and medical equipment.

Manufactured in polyamide with gold plated contacts and silver plated terminals, the 1880 series uses a switching principle with a proven life of 100 million cycles and an electrical rating up to 12(4)A and 250VAC with inrush currents up to 70A. Insulation resistance is greater than 100MΩ, contact resistance greater than 100mΩ and the contact gap is 3mm. Operating temperature is -20ºC to +100ºC.

A simple snap-on assembly caters for panel thickness of 0.75mm to 3.00mm and a snug fit is assured due to tolerance compensation ribs on the switch housing. Standard switching functions provided are single pole, single throw (SP-ST) and single pole, normally open (SP-NO).

Formed in 1925, Marquardt GmbH is an independent German family-owned company based in Reitheim-Weilheim that is a global manufacturer of automotive, power tool and standard switches. The company employs 4,000 people and has a turnover of €400m.
