KOA has developed flat chip resistors with extremely high resistivity against sulphurated environments, high humidity and high temperature. The enhanced structure is based on a metal glaze thick film. Tests in H2S environment showed an outstanding performance compared to standard products.
High hydrogen sulphide concentrations are encountered in industrial plants, especially for rubber, sewage water treatment, biogas energy, petro-chemical indusrty and many other rough environments. Sulphur reacts with the inner termination of standard resistors. It creates silver sulphide crystals at the termination which result in disconnection.

Even though KOA’s standard resistor series have already superior sulphur resistance the newly developed RT series shows outstanding test results. KOA guarantees the resistors keep their specification limits when used in an environment containing 1000 ppm H2S at 25°C and 90% relative humidity for 720 hour. This is achieved by improved termination and resistive material.

The anti sulfuration resistors are available in two flat chip series: RK73 RT and SG73 RT. The RK73 RT series is the improved standard KOA series with tolerances down to 0.5%. The SG73 RT has improved pulse stability with up to 10 times higher pulse power in the same size. Available chip sizes are 0402 up to 2512. All series are RoHS compatible.
