Available in eight chip sizes ranging from 01005 to 1812, AVX has extended the capacitance range of the CV X5R MLCC series. The capacitance values now span 100pF to 100µF.

The devices deliver voltage ratings spanning 4V to 100V, whilst also exhibiting low ESR and extremely high volumetric efficiency. These features make the devices suited for decoupling and filtering applications in a broad range of mobile, medial, and digital electronics, including: cell phones, tablets, high-speed processors/FPGAs, and implantable medical devices.

Rated for operational temperatures spanning -55°C to +85°C, the series further exhibits a ±15% temperature coefficient of capacitance (TCC). Unspecified capacitance values and tolerance options beyond the standard ±10% and ±20% may be available upon request. The eight available chip sizes are 01005, 0201, 0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, and 1812. Eight voltage options, 4V, 6.3V, 10V, 16V, 25V, 35V, 50V, and 100V are also offered. Chip sizes 01005, 1210, and 1812 require reflow soldering; all other chips are compatible with both reflow and wave soldering.

“The expanded capacitance values for our miniature high CV X5R MLCC series enable their employment in an even broader range of advanced mobile, medical, and digital electronics applications in which high volumetric efficiency is critical,” said Mark Obuszewski, Business Manager at AVX.

The series is compatible with SpiCap 3.0 SPICE modeling software.
