Available in a 1206 package with a small footprint of just 3.2x1.6mm, the FC4L32 surface mount current sense resistor has been announced by Ohmite. The smallest device in the company's expanding FC4L family, the resistor features a 1W power rating and can handle currents of up to 45A.

Achieving 45A below 10mΩ and 24A at or above 10mΩ, the FC4L32 is available in standard values of 1-50mΩ. The resistor features a tight tolerance of 1% above 2mΩ (this value is 5% at 1mΩ and 2% at 2mΩ) and a temperature coefficient of resistance of 100ppm at 1‐3mΩ and just 50ppm above 3mΩ. With Inductance values below 1.6nH at 30MHz, the surface mount current sense resistor offers the low‐noise performance required by today’s high frequency applications. The current sense resistor operates over a temperature range from -55 to +155°C.

Making use of metal foil construction and long‐side terminals, the FC4L32 is capable of achieving twice the power rating of conventional chip resistors. The surface mount resistor uses a Ni-Cu-Mn resistive element to provide the user with the added advantage of a built in 4-terminal
design with 2 larger electrodes for current management and 2 smaller electrodes for current measurement. Additionally, the resistive element enables long term performance stability of 50-100ppm.

All FC4L resistor products are supplied in 1,000 unit reels and are available in standard values of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 25 and 50mΩ.
