C&K Components has developed two Hall-effect contactless sensing analog rocker switches. Designated the AR3 and AR5 analog rockers, the switches are extremely durable and feature a rocker life of more than two million actuations, short circuit protection, and integrated temperature compensation.

Both Hall-effect switches employ one sensor as standard and an optional second sensor, and provide an ideal proportional function and cost-effective solution for off-road vehicle and heavy duty industrial equipment applications, said David Webber, director of product management for C&K Components. Specifically, the AR3 and AR5 analog rocker switches are being specified for use in standard and custom multifunction grips, dashboard panels and armrest controls.

The AR5 rockers by design allow for customized fingertip style actuators that are common in off-road applications, as well as different lengths and color combinations.

The AR3 rocker switches feature an operating force from 4N to 6N, with a maximum vertical load of 30N. Maximum output current is 1mA, maximum rocker deflection angle is ±30°, and the switch is sealed to IP65 specifications from above when mounted. Operating temperature ranges from -35°C to +70°C.

The AR5 analog rockers feature an optional detent/over travel life of more than 200K cycles, and an optional latching life of more than 100K cycles. Operating force ranges from 4N to 6N, with a maximum vertical load of 30N. Maximum output current is 1mA, maximum rocker deflection angle is ±40°, and the switch is sealed to IP65 specifications. Operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C. Both the AR3 and AR5 switches are RoHS compliant and compatible.
