Capable of withstanding operating temperatures as high as 200°C, three high voltage ratings have been added to AVX's SXP-style, encapsulated, radial leaded SMPS capacitor series. The voltage ratings for the SXP-style SMPS capacitor series now span 50-3000V, with the addition of the 1500V, 2000V, and 3000V ratings.

Available in four sizes, the capacitance values span 100pF to 12µF and are available with tolerance ratings of ±5%, ±10%, ±20%. The capacitors deliver critical mechanical protection for the ceramic element, enabling their use as DC filters in high power, high frequency motor drives, high pulsed-current circuitry, and a range of other extreme high temperature and harsh environment applications. The capacitors offer low ESR, low ESL, low DCL, and high frequency performance, with the series also available in C0G (NP0) and VHT.

“Fully encapsulated and constructed using high temperature solder to ensure reliable operation in harsh, high heat environments with temperatures up to 200°C, our radial leaded SXP-style SMPS capacitors are available with a wide capacitance and voltage range in addition to a variety of custom configurations, which makes them ideal for an expansive variety of rugged motor drive, drilling, space, aerospace, and automotive applications,” commented Patrick Hollenbeck, Application Engineer at AVX.

The devices are compatible with SpiCalci 8.0 SPICE modeling software and are available with standard lead times. Applications include downhole oil exploration, including logging while drilling and geophysical probes, and various space, aerospace, and hybrid automotive applications.
