L-C Protection Devices for Color LCDs in 3G Handsets

L-C Protection Devices for Color LCDs in 3G Handsets
Semtech Corp has announced the EClamp239xP, the newest addition to Semtech’s EMIClampTM protection portfolio. The EClamp239xP is a series of inductor-capacitor (L-C) protection devices featuring greater attenuation, steeper amplitude roll-off, and lower clamping voltage needed for high-performance color LCD interfaces in GSM and CDMA-based 3G handsets. The EClamp239xP series includes the four-line EClamp2394P, the six-line EClamp2396P and the eight-line EClamp2398P. The EClamp239xP’s 5-pole L-C filter network has inductor values of 19nH and capacitor values of 12pF, enabling the devices to offer minimal attenuation in the passband and 30 dB minimum attenuation from 800 MHz to 2.7 GHz, ideal for 3G-based mobile phones.

Waterproof Key Switch For Secure Systems

Waterproof Key Switch For Secure Systems
Lorlin Electronics has announced the introduction of the WRL series of waterproof miniature key operated lock switches. Sealed to IP66 and IP67 these single or double pole snap-fit switches may be operated by a single common key or one of up to 200 different combinations. Manufactured at Lorlin’s own factory in the UK, the WRL waterproof lock switch is a compact, rugged design, simple to mount, occupies a small panel area and projects less than 30mm from the rear of the mounting panel. All WRL switches are RoHS compliant and an optional M16 earthing tag may be specified where panels might be insulated.

Improved resistors seem ideal for circuit protection

Improved resistors seem ideal for circuit protection
Recently introduced improved CBT series resistors from Tyco Electronics are said to provide excellent pulse withstand capabilities for circuitry associated with surges, high peak power or high energy, whilst remaining very stable. Ideal for protection against lightning strikes, advanced characteristics of the highly reliable 0.25W CBT25 and 0.5W CBT50 resistors have been achieved by selecting materials featuring optimum physical properties and by new developments in the manufacturing process.

ESD Protection for High-Speed Applications

ESD Protection for High-Speed Applications
Semtech has announced two new additions to its RailClamp family of low capacitance protection devices that provide system designers a new option for adding critical power protection to high-speed lines without the high clamping voltage and high capacitance limitations of competing solutions. RClamp1502B and RClamp2402B are designed with an ultra-low capacitance of 0.6pF to protect high-speed data lines without signal attenuation. The devices also have low clamping voltages to reduce stress on the protected IC that are very susceptible to ESD and CDE threats. The RClamp1502B protects two 15V lines and the RClamp2402B protects two 24V lines. Both devices protect two lines and are targeted for interfaces operating up to 1GHz, such as IEEE 1394 (FireWire), high-power USB, or ADSL input/output lines.
