e2v’s next gen DAC, the EV12DS400, brings an advanced combination of microwave capabilities and multi-Nyquist operation and is now ready for general sampling. The EV12DS400 offers the highest levels of spectral purity, coupled with a vast analogue bandwidth, facilitating new ways to architect challenging RF and microwave systems. It provides design versatility and opens up novel and previously unimagined applications.

Further strengthening the DAC’s microwave capability, the output bandwidth of EV12DS400 is aimed well into the C-band area with up to 7GHz and offers waveform features to open new and unprecedented possibilities to adjust DAC output power vs. output frequency.

This device contributes to the migration from software defined radio to software defined microwave, with its ability to operate beyond baseband, in L-, S- and C-bands without frequency converters.

The EV12DS400 pushes the speed boundaries of true single core DAC performance; it multiplies the sampling frequency by a factor of 1.5 (compared with e2v’s previous EV12DS130 DAC) at speeds of up to 4.5GS/s without using interpolation techniques, preventing known sources of signal degradations. For the first time ever on a DAC, the EV12DS400 introduces mathematical simulation models to ease the work of multi-Nyquist-zones frequency planning.

Laurent Monge, Vice President, Semiconductors, commented, “e2v is committed to bringing semiconductor innovation to its customers, so we are proud to deliver a new powerful DAC device to enable new forms of applications in the microwave world as well as in the field of waveform generation.”
