Available in a QFN1515-9L package, the 3W mono Class-D audio amplifier from Diodes Inc supports miniaturization of portable products such as MP3 players, tablets and smart phones. Providing two alternative pin-outs to help simplify board layouts, the PAM8013 and PAM8015 each measure just 1.5mm x 1.5 mm x 0.75mm and use a filterless output architecture to minimize the number of external components and total PCB footprint.

The amplifiers provide audio system designers with a differential input and assure low noise performance, high PSRR and good THD+N figures.  Output power capability is high as well, at 3W for a 5V supply into a 4Ω speaker. The devices feature a wide 2.8V to 5.5V supply voltage operating range to support a variety of different battery cell configurations.  With an efficiency as high as 90% and a shutdown current less than 1µA, the amplifiers help maximize system battery life.

To protect the amplifiers from any harmful circuit excesses, they integrate short circuit protection with auto recovery, over temperature protection and under voltage lock-out circuitry. The PAM8013 and PAM8015 3W mono Class-D audio amplifiers are priced at $0.08USD each in 100k piece quantities.
