A new self-test library has been introduced for Infineon’s XMC4000 industrial microcontroller family, based on Cortex-M4 supplies out-of-the-box safety according to IEC 61508 SIL2 or SIL3.

Hitex speeds up the implementation of functional safety for the XMC4000 family of 32-bit microcontrollers with Yogitech’s software test library, fRSTL_xmc. In addition, Hitex has extensive experience in functional safety applications gained via customer projects and can therefore offer support as both a tools partner and consultant.

The new fRSTL_xmc test library for the XMC4000 family enables the development of safety critical industrial applications that conform with IEC 61508 SIL 2 or SIL 3. By integrating fRSTL_xmc, Cortex-M dedicated safety mechanisms are implemented in the application, which allow detailed analysis and verification.

This enables potential faults to be easily identified, therefore accelerating certification in compliance with IEC 61508. FRSTL_xmc is delivered by Hitex with source code in C (MISRA C standard) and assembler and provides compiler settings, scripts and project set-ups for Keil, IAR and GCC based environments.
