As a further development to the CANgine and whose 8-bit controller is slightly outdated by now. ESS will be presenting the CANgineLight at NUFAM in Karlsruhe from 28th September to 1st October 2017.

Equipped with a modern 32-bit cortex-M0 microcontroller, the performance of CANgineLight takes another order of magnitude than its prede-cessor. As it is clocked internally with 48MHz, plenty of power reserves for further firmware extensions are readily available. Firmware changes or extensions are therefore also possible without any problems in order to meet customer-specific requirements.

The new CANgineLight FMS is the optimal low cost solution for reading out FMS data from commercial vehicles. This simple and flexible FMS-RS232 converter combines rugged hardware with intelligent firmware. For the first time ESS offers also the support of the actual FMS3-standard in a low cost sector.

The operation is simple and user-friendly: the device will be connected to the FMS interface on the vehicle and the output of all FMS data is done in text form via the serial interface. Thus, the CANgineLight FMS enables any onboard telematics computer with a serial interface to have carefree access to the FMS data and thus offers a platform-independent access to the data.

Three different output formats are available to the user, whereby it is freely configurable which FMS data records are output. The CANgineLight FMS supports all FMS protocols (protocols 1, 2, 3, bus & truck).
