The SmartCC80251 compiler for 80251 microcontrollers has been released by Dolphin Integration. Users may benefit from a free upgrade to the compiler and join an innovative 80251 ecosystem. Low-power microcontrollers, a state-of-the-art compiler toolchain with an innovative Interactive Development Environment (IDE) guarantee the lasting growth of the i51 legacy.

Dolphin says that the compiler generates more efficient code enabling a user to execute instructions faster or to reduce the power consumption (less instructions for each task), It offers a reduced number of memory accesses compared to usual compiler enabling to reduce power consumption. It has more expressive diagnostics compared to classical compiler for accelerated software development and debug.

A LLVM based compiler toolchain enables users to benefit from an active community. The compiler is fully part of SmartVision IDE and there is a library of standard C functions SmartLib updated for the 80251.

In power consumption optimisation, SmartCC80251 is associated with SmartVision IDE, enabling users to model complete subsystems and to perform power consumption profiling in order to optimise and debug their embedded software, and Dolphin Integration’s low power 16-bit microcontrollers Typhoon and Hurricane.
