Microcontrollers deliver power efficiency, ease of use
The ATtiny102 and ATtiny104 microcontrollers from Atmel are now in stock at Mouser Electronics.Part of Atmel's new AVR Tiny portfolio, these small 8-bit microcontrollers are optimised for applications that require performance, power efficiency, and ease of use in a small package. The low-power CMOS 8-bit microcontrollers are based on the Atmel AVR-enhanced RISC architecture
MCU longevity extension reinforces market commitment
NXP Semiconductors is extending the longevity of LPC1700 and LPC2000 Microcontrollers (MCU), by an additional five years, in response to the continued demand and broad market usage of these products. More than a decade ago, NXP laid the foundation for today’s MCU market with the introduction of the industry’s first truly integrated flash MCU, based on ARM technology, the LPC2106.
Infineon chips strengthen security at Korean airports
Strengthening airport access control systems for its personnel, Korea Airports Corporation (KAC) has implemented a new security solution based on the CIPURSE security standard. Infineon Technologies supplies the security chips for the electronic access control cards handed out to the staff at three of the 14 Korean civil aviation airports managed by KAC. Additional airports are to follow successively.
Low power MCUs feature core independent peripherals
PIC32MM microcontrollers, the lowest power and most cost-effective family of 32-bit PIC32 microcontrollers from Microchip Technology are now on sale at distributor Mouser Electronics. The PIC32MM family bridges the gap between Microchip’s PIC24F XLP and PIC32MX families, and is the first PIC32 to feature core independent peripherals, designed to offload the CPU for lower power and lower system design.
Jordan choses NXP’s SmartMX2 MCU for contactless ID card
The Civil Status and Passports Department (CSPD) in Jordan has chosen NXP’s secure SmartMX2 MCU for its new contactless citizen ID card. The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT) anticipates deploying the SmartMX2-based Jordanian ID cards to increase national security, improve counterfeit protection and extend public services.
Renesas & SEGGER accelerate RX ecosystem expansion
Renesas Electronics Europe and SEGGER have announced their collaboration to facilitate expansion of the ecosystem of Renesas’ RX family of 32-bit MCUs through adoption of SEGGER’s newly-released SystemView software. The SystemView software will now support streaming over J-Link, as well as real-time analysis and visualisation, in relation to any Renesas RX-based embedded design.
ST certifies cryptographic library for STM32 MCUs
STMicroelectronics has successfully certified its cryptographic library for STM32 MCUs according to the US Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program (CAVP), helping customers prove the security of their new products quickly and cost-effectively.
Small shot dispensing valve specialised for small shots and fine beads
The manufacturer of standard and specialised resin handling equipment, Fluid Research, is pleased to announce the launch of its newly developed Micro VRE valve. The Micro Shot VRE valve from Fluid Research differs from other valves in that it has been specially designed for dispensing small shots and fine beads.
ST expands STM32L4 MCU series & adds development ecosystem
STMicroelectronics has expanded its low-power, high-performance STM32L4 MCU series with 5 new product lines and has also announced a development ecosystem for the MCUs.
MCUs now have advanced debug technology
J-Link support for Zilog’s ZNEO32! Cortex-M3 based family of MCUs has been introduced by SEGGER. This includes support for debug, as well as Flash-based programming. Production line programming is also available via the SEGGER Flasher family.
