Swissbit has released a product series of M.2 SSD (solid state drive) modules. The SATA III durabit SSDs use MLC flash memory together with special hardware and firmware features to obtain the maximum possible endurance, data retention and performance from MLC technology. Compliant with the latest SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) interface specification, these drives meet the requirements of today’s industrial, network/communication and automotive applications.

The X-60m2 series offers exceptional performance, achieving sequential read/write speeds of up to 520MB/s and 340MB/s, respectively. Industrial applications with a need for random read/write performance will enjoy an impressive data rate up to 78,000 IOPS for transfer sizes of 4KB and queue depths of 32. X-60m2 drives are available in the three different sizes: 2242, 2260 and 2280. Some densities are available in ultrathin 2mm thickness thanks to single sided assembly.

Swissbit’s X-60m2 SSDs are designed and qualified to deliver reliable operation over both commercial (0 to +70°C) and industrial (-40 to +85°C) temperature ranges. They support a maximum shock / vibration rating of 2000G / 20G as per MIL-STD810 and are rated at over 2,000,000 hours MTBF.

The durabit product family of SSDs is characterised by usage of MLC technology with DRAM supported page based FTL and increased overprovisioning within IDEMA standards. All of these architectural and configuration features enable the highest in class performance and endurance. Customers can expect 1.9 TBW write endurance per GB drive capacity for embedded workloads.

Swissbit’s X-60m2 products offer a wide range of firmware features to extend retention and endurance beyond MLC standards. Besides sophisticated wear leveling and a robust power fail recovery, Swissbit’s Data Care Management firmware suite includes Adaptive Read Refresh, Background Media Scan, Dynamic Bad Block Remapping and Write Amplification Reduction.

Together with a powerful ECC engine, these features guarantee safe data retention even at high temperature operation. The enhanced drive lifetime monitoring features enable users to access detailed drive lifetime statistics and assist in mitigating a potential failure, avoiding unexpected data loss and system downtime.

X-60m2 products are available in 30GB, 60GB, 120GB, 240GB and 480GB capacities. The X-60 series also covers SlimSATA, mSATA and CFast form factors.
