MSC now offers the new Encore-based SiT500x family of MEMS VCTCXO (Voltage Controlled Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator) from SiTime. The SiT500x family features an outstanding ±0.5 ppm and 500 femtoseconds of integrated RMS phase jitter in the range of 12 kHz to 20 MHz.
The voltage controlled and temperature compensated oscillators of the SiT500x family are currently available in four versions. The high-performance devices SiT5001 and SiT5002 are available in the frequency range 1 MHz to 80 MHz and 80 MHz to 220 MHz respectively with a stability of ±1 ppm to ±5 ppm. The ultra-stable devices SiT5003 and SiT5004 are available in the frequency range 1 MHz to 80 MHz and 80 MHz to 220 MHz respectively with an unprecedented stability of ±0.5 ppm. Optional voltage control function, with pull range of ±12.5 ppm to ±50 ppm, provides the ability to fine-tune frequencies after soldering on the board, and increases system performance.

With 500 million hours MTBF, the MEMS VCTCXOs offer 10 times better reliability than comparable quartz oscillators. Furthermore, also 10 times better than comparable quartz oscillators are shock resistance (50,000 g max.) and vibration resistance (70 g max.). In addition, for an optimal line impedance matching the drive strength can be individually configured with help of the programmable SoftEdgeTM technology.

This improves signal integrity and reduces electromagnetic interference. Depending on the version, the devices of the SiT500x family are offered in the extended commercial temperature range from -20°C to +70°C or industrial temperature range from
-40°C to +85°C. The devices operate with a supply voltage of 1.8 V or 2.5 V to 3.3 V.

The MEMS VCTCXOs - ideal for use in various applications such as SONET and Synchronous Ethernet based equipment, cellular base stations and repeaters, GPS and instrumentation - are available in industry-standard 4-pin packages, enabling 100% drop-in replacement of quartz TCXOs and VCTCXOs with no design changes.
