Nu Horizons Electronics announces the availability of SiTime’s SiT9102, the world's first differential output MEMS oscillator with ultra-high frequency stability of +/-10 PPM. The SiT9102 has been introduced along with the SiT9103 and SiT9104, 3-PLL programmable clock generators with an embedded MEMS resonator.

Quartz oscillator manufacturers typically offer frequency stability between 25 and 100 PPM, and 10 PPM devices are not easily available. SiTime's 10 PPM solutions dramatically increase the availability of such high-stability clock oscillators. This technology is being offered on the differential output oscillator (SiT9102) and the previously announced high-performance programmable oscillator (SiT8102). The improved frequency stability enhances the system timing margin and long-term reliability by significantly reducing the impact of random, low-frequency noise generated by transformers, power lines and lighting.

The SiT9102 is a programmable, differential output MEMS oscillator that can operate at frequencies up to 800 MHz. It is programmable for three common differential standards, LVPECL (2.25V to 3.63V), LVDS (2.25V - 3.63V) and CML (1.8V, 2.25V - 3.63V) and for any frequency between 10 and 220 MHz, as well as selected, popular frequencies in the 220 MHz and 800 MHz range. The SiT9102 also offers random RMS phase jitter of less than 1 picosecond, which is required by high performance applications. The SiT9102 is available in two industry-standard six-pin packages: 5.0 x 3.2 x 0.85mm and 7.0 x 5.0 x 0.85mm.

Typical applications for the SiT9102 include servers, routers, RAID controllers, fiber channel, PCI-Express, Gigabit Ethernet and optical networking equipment.

The SiT9102 uses SiTime's proven MEMS technology to offer 10 times better robustness and reliability than existing, quartz-based solutions, supporting longer-life electronics. The devices' programmability also allows delivery of samples in 24 to 48 hours and production quantities in two to three weeks. Samples of the SiT9102 will be available in early January 2009. Samples of the 10 PPM SiT8102 are available now.

The SiT9102 expands SiTime’s portfolio with a high performance, programmable, differential output offering that brings the benefits of MEMS technology to networking, communications and computing applications.
