SiTime Corporation, a MEMS and analogue semiconductor company and a wholly owned subsidiary of MegaChips Corporation, has introduced its MEMS-based Elite Super-TCXOs and oscillators. These precision timing devices are engineered to solve deep-rooted timing problems in telecom and networking equipment.

“The densification of 4G/5G networks, along with the emergence of 1588 and synchronous Ethernet, requires more stringent timing, and operators are questioning if quartz technology is up to the challenge,” said Rajesh Vashist, CEO at SiTime. “SiTime’s MEMS technology has successfully transformed timing in wearable, industrial and consumer applications, and is now poised to do the same in the $1.5bn telecom and networking timing market.”

“In the past two years, since the MegaChips acquisition, SiTime has shipped more product than in the previous seven years,” continued Vashist. “With 500 million units shipped and a robust product pipeline, we are confident that MEMS timing will be the technology of choice for all electronics.”

Elite timing solutions are based on an innovative DualMEMS architecture with TurboCompensation. This architecture delivers dynamic performance with three key elements:

  • Robust TempFlat MEMS that eliminates activity dips and enables 30x better vibration immunity than quartz.
  • DualMEMS temperature sensing with thermal coupling that enables 40x faster temperature tracking, which ensures the best performance under airflow and rapid temperature changes.
  • Highly integrated mixed signal circuits with on-chip regulators, TDC and low noise PLL that delivers 5x better immunity to power supply noise, 30uK temperature resolution (1,000% better than quartz), and the ability to support any frequency between 10 and 700MHz
