At Kiosk Summit South on stand 21 on September 28th 2017, industrial computing company Distec will be exhibiting. The event, held at the Business Design Centre, London, is Europe’s only dedicated event for the kiosk industry and offers an insight into the development of self-service technology. Distec will be exhibiting a range of Elo touchscreens as well as AOPEN digital signage players. Kiosks are revolutionising many industries, particularly the retail sector.

For example, in fast food restaurants, kiosks are increasingly used as self-service points to reduce customer waiting time. The event offers opportunities to meet other professionals working in the expanding industry in its networking lounge, where attendees can discuss their experiences of the industry.

Distec will be exhibiting Elo open frame touch monitors and all in one (AiO) touchscreens, which have applications such as retail in mind. Elo open frame touch monitors have through-glass technology, meaning that a 6mm artificial glass layer can be placed over the screen and the touchscreen will still work. The thicker glass allows companies to protect their screens from damage or vandalism or place them behind shop windows.

The touchscreens are also available with a projected capacitive (PCAP) touchscreen, which allows consumers to have a ten-touch interactive experience, just as they do with their tablet at home. This allows retail companies to devise a number of interactive applications to engage customers.

Distec will also be exhibiting AOPEN products, having recently signed a partnership to be a UK distributor of the company’s product range. AOPEN supplies digital signage players, which are used to power touchscreens. The range features ultra-thin digital signage players and fanless designs, meaning they can be used in kiosks, rather than having to be installed separately.

“Our partnerships with AOPEN and Elo mean we can offer a wide range of products to the market,” explained Noel Sheppard, a Director at Distec. “At the show, we will be available to offer expert advice on the right product for each application. As a company, we have an extensive knowledge of our product range and make sure that our customers don’t just choose blindly out of a catalogue. We can also offer loan equipment to ensure that companies get the right product.”
