At SPS IPC Drives 2014, which started today and finishes on 27th November in Nuremberg, Germany, TE Connectivity will unveil products for both factory automation and machine building applications.

TE offers an extensive portfolio of electromechanical and electronic products that meet a wide range of requirements. The company also works with strategic distribution partner TTI to offer customers a range of fully integrated fit-for-purpose solutions from a single source, backed by local technical support and service.

The Ariso contactless connectivity platform addresses the need for reliable connections in situations and environments where traditional connectivity reaches its limits due to space restrictions, vibrations, dust and dirt, while at the same time offering 360° of flexibility.

TE’s Industrial Mini I/O connector is just one quarter of the size of the conventional RJ45 plug. As a result, the device allows the limited space on the PCB to be used more effectively. Designed with two points of contact, the connector is built for the stringent demands of an industrial and high-vibration environment, enabling increased productivity through a reliable connection.

The RJ45 connectors are equipped with robust termination technology that allows time saving and flexible field installation. These connectors include an Industrial RJ45 Push Pull Variant 14 connector with a plastic shell, and an Industrial RJ45/Fiber Optic Push Pull Variant 14 with a metal shell. Both types have the durability to provide a high degree of reliability over a long lifetime, resulting in long-term cost savings. Both also offer high-grade IP shielding and temperature resistance, making them suitable for harsh and outdoor environments.

TE’s M8/M12 industry standard connector system for machine industrial automation and control applications offers design engineers a reliable and complete solution for various applications to decrease downtime in industrial environments. The system also provides users with an interface that supports higher bandwidth needs - meeting the requirements of up to 10Gb/s. The system includes an extensive range of board- and field-installable connectors, cable assemblies and I/O boxes. Designed to IEC-61076-2-101 standard, the system is robust for use in harsh commercial applications such as outdoor data communications, outdoor telecoms and advanced traffic monitoring.

The range of high-speed industrial RJ45 Cat6a field-installable connectors enables high signal performance for field termination without tools. The connectors support 10Gb/s Gigabit Ethernet, and feature IDC contacts which allow for reliable installation.

The Micro-MaTch Value-line connectors feature a more economical design to help meet customers’ need for less demanding applications in industrial, consumer and datacomm industries. Built on the Micro-MaTch connector system, the connectors have been adapted for environments where there is less need for a broad operating temperature range, many mating cycles and vibration resistance. The Micro-MaTch Value-line connectors offer a variety of wire-to-board interconnections, and with their contact spacing of 1.27mm, they comply with today’s electronic packaging requirements.

Thomas Schmidt, Senior Vice President and General Manager for TE Connectivity’s Industrial business unit, commented: “This event is important for us because it gives our team an important opportunity to interact with customers. Dialogue with our customers is vital if we are to develop the products and solutions that they want, and SPS is a great place to continue that dialog. We have a booth that is larger than ever before, and we have lots of great products and solutions to discuss.”

“We are particularly enthusiastic about the ARISO Contactless Connectivity Platform, which is an excellent example of TE’s commitment to the industry and to our customers in delivering pioneering technologies, product reliability and peace of mind. We are happy to see that it has been nominated for the 2014 Automation Award here at the show.”

“Visitors will be able to see for themselves that TE’s global know-how and leadership in various industries can help industrial customers. Leveraging our overall technical capabilities, customers looking for efficiency, productivity, reliability, decentralisation, faster communication, smaller equipment, and long product lifetimes can work with us to stand out in the marketplace.”
