Two 7” widescreen (800x480px) WVGA on-cell touch LCD modules, featuring built-in touch sensors, have been introduced by Kyocera. The TCG070W VLRPC-GD117 and TCG070W VLRPC-GD118 expand the company’s range of LCDs. The capacitive touch sensor is built into the display’s front glass, resulting in a compact on-cell touch display.

The TCG070W VLRPC-GD117 and TCG070W VLRPC-GD118, which are offered with the five-point multi-touch screen controller, feature screened circuits which help significantly reduce EMC problems.

The modules are suited for lightweight applications where an additional front glass would be intrusive, or for applications that already feature a front glass for design reasons. The wide temperature range of -30 to +80°C and the Super Wide View 170° viewing angle make the modules even more versatile.

The TCG070W VLRPC-GD117 and TCG070W VLRPC-GD118 measure 169.8x109.7x9.2mm and include a built-in LED driver for easy integration, eliminating the need for additional backlighting components for the display. In addition, the LVDS interface guarantees easy operation using a 20-pole plug. The touch sensor’s output can be checked using USB or I²C. A Raspberry-based evaluation kit is also available.

The combination of long-term market availability and local technical support make these LCD modules suitable for both industrial applications and medical devices.
