GPEG Cuts Cost Of Multi-Touch Solutions
The increasing demand for touchscreens in a range of applications has created a need for a reliable and cost-effective solution. Until now most multi-touch screens have relied on projected capacitive technology to deliver the intuitive gestures - flicks, zoom, pinch and swipe - and other data manipulation controls but the cost is prohibitive to many.
UsinIt has adapted two solutions to create multi-touch controls. The first uses an embedded chip with an IC2 or SPI interface suitable for a micro-controlled environment, which is suitable for displays up to 7in diagonal.
The second incorporates a Windows or Linux style-controller that can decode gestures and data controls for screens from 20in.
Combined with GPEG’s unique optically bonded fully customisable edge to edge touch overlay designers can create a product that looks and feels like a PCT touch screen at a fraction of the cost.
GPEG believes that by offering customers this option, which is typically 50 per cent more cost-effective than the PCT touch screen, it can enable businesses to bring new products to market that might otherwise have proven too costly.
