MMD has announced a dazzling performer on the display scene: the Philips 4K UltraClear UHD Display. With four times the resolution of full HD and four times the clarity, the Philips 288P6LJEB display offers users unrivalled detail, colour, and the sharpest, most brilliant picture ever.

4K UHD: quadruple resolution for clarity and brilliance

The latest in a continuous stream of product innovations to enhance image quality and resolution, the Philips 4K UltraClear UHD display takes picture quality to the 4K level. With its resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, the display with Ultra HD (UHD) technology packs four times as many pixels onto the same area as the already impressive picture quality of Full HD. The result is even more space to spread out on the generous 28-inch (71.1 cm) display: elements such as windows are more compact on the screen and the higher number of pixels etches greater detail into text and images, delivering added brilliance, clarity and a more true-to-life picture.

UHD makes a marked difference to both entertainment and productivity applications, and the Philips 288P6LJEB display ushers the UHD experience into offices and living rooms everywhere. On the entertainment front, viewers can stream movies, play games or browse and edit photos with more detail than ever, and can look forward to more 4K TV content coming on stream in the near future. In business applications, all work can scale to UHD, which delivers more room to spread out on the screen and greater detail. Spreadsheets for example, can be maximised on the display giving enough space for data-intensive applications. Users of specialised applications such as scientific imaging – where the ability to identify minor detail is key – benefit from the uncompromising clarity.

Ultra-responsive entertainment experience

The Philips 4K UltraClear UHD Display offers a great set of characteristics on all counts including high-performance features engineered to enhance and complement the UHD resolution. With a response time of just 1 ms, the Philips Ultra HD display is one of the fastest 4K displays on the market; and its calibrated support for over 1 billion colours means it can reproduce the finest colours with total accuracy – perfect for business productivity applications such as detail-rich CAD and creative design, and of course also for an immersive gaming experience. Combined with SmartResponse, an exclusive Philips overdrive technology that automatically adjusts response time to suit the application, the display provides gamers and movie viewers with clear, brilliant images free of judder, time-lag and ghost image effects.

Ultra-versatile connectivity

With viewing as brilliant as this, users will be keen to experience all their content in the quality and clarity of the Philips Ultra HD display – even two sets of content in parallel. The display supports MultiView, enabling users to connect and view two streams simultaneously, hooking up a notebook, for example, with the office spreadsheets, while also keeping up-to-date with sports results on TV. The DisplayPort 1.2 digital PC-to-Display link supports data transfer speeds of up to 10.8 Gbps, for faster imaging and refresh in both office apps and movies. The HDMI connection is MHL-enabled, meaning users can connect mobile devices such as smartphones and enjoy mobile content in HD quality on the big screen. And with Super Speed USB 3.0, viewers enjoy scorchingly fast USB transfer – around 10 times speedier than the USB 2.0 standard.

Ultra-easy and ergonomic

To ease desk fatigue, the new display features a Smart ErgoBase, enabling it to be lowered almost to desk level for a comfortable viewing angle, and the low bezel-to-table height delivers a perfect viewing experience for people who use bifocals, trifocals or progressive lens glasses for screen work. The base also manages cables neatly, reducing cable clutter on the desktop or – where it matters even more – in the living room.

The new Philips 288P6LJEB 4K UltraClear UHD display will be available in summer 2014 at a recommended retail price of 599 GBP (including VAT).
