Julius Meinl am Graben, a premium food store, restaurant and café located in the heart of Vienna, is using dynamic in-window advertising to target approximately 70,000 people passing by the street every day. Vikuiti Rear Projection Film is used to create the 70 inch window display with a 3M X90 projector to communicate special in-store gourmet food promotions 18 hours a day.
“We were using a competitive window display solution to present our food store promos but the images were very poor in direct sunlight,” said Andreas Wastian, Art Director of Julius Meinl am Graben. “The front window of our café faces into the sun all day so it was necessary to change to a new display solution capable of addressing this challenge whilst increasing audience viewing figures. We tested Vikuiti Rear Projection Film and were impressed with its reliable, round-the-clock performance, even in bright conditions.”

The company Julius Meinl was founded in 1862 as the first seller of roasted coffee beans and is currently one of the strongest retail brands in Austria. Julius Meinl am Graben has always held a special position in the Austrian food market and is fast becoming something of a Mecca for gourmets from around the world. With such a reputation to uphold in a prestigious Vienna hot spot, the company sees great value to be gained from high impact digital window advertising. The “am Graben” area is popular with tourists and is frequented by affluent city workers such as designers and architects from offices nearby.

“This prestigious food store application is a great addition to our growing list of Vikuiti Rear Projection customer success stories in Austria. We’re receiving highly positive feedback from the market and this is just the beginning,” commented Lloyd Cole, European Marketing Manager, 3M Optical Systems.
