Infrared light emitting diode packs high output, small package punch
The Oslon Compact SFH 4710 infrared light-emitting diode (IRED) from Osram Opto Semiconductors closes the gap between high- and low-power IREDs. Despite the very small package it offers highly versatile output thanks to state-of-the-art thin-film chip technology. It is available at distributor Rutronik as of now.
7-in TFT display module widens viewing angle
Ginsbury has introduced Kyocera’s Advanced Wide View TFT display module. It achieves a viewing angle of greater than 170° (horizontal and vertical) and ensures that the colour fidelity of the display image is accurately represented when viewed from any direction. Featuring a contrast ratio of 750:1 and the latest high-efficiency, long-life LED backlight, the 7in module has a brightness level of 1000cd/m² which provides an ideal sol...
Optical bonding improves display readability
Believed to be the world's most advanced optical bonding technology, Distec uses the VacuBond high performance silicone optoGel. The manufacturing equipment is capable of directly bonding TFT displays in custom bezels and front housings with integrated protective glass. Moreover, the VacuBond process is reversible: individual components can be recovered, simplifying repairs and reducing repair costs.
PCAP controllers provide the industry’s lowest power
Making it easier for designers to add contemporary touch and gesture interface designs to cost-sensitive applications, the MTCH6102 projected-capacitive (PCAP) touch controllers have been announced by Microchip. The manufacturer has claimed that these controllers offer industry-leading low-power performance.
TFTs boast 80° viewing angle & consistent color reproduction
Two 4.3” IPS (In-Plane Switching) TFTs have been added to Newhaven Display's existing display line. The displays feature extra-wide viewing angles with consistent color reproduction, which is achieved by the horizontal arrangement of the liquid crystals that allows the backlight to easily pass through the liquid crystals without twisting and refracting.
Control LED ticker displays with your mobile device
Increasing the interactivity of its digital LED signs and displays, Messagemaker has added direct control from a mobile device. The instant messaging solution utilises the TwittLED range of moving message displays for health and safety applications and also offers the capability to stream live Twitter feeds.
Tuned in: White, SMD-based LED meets SSL lighting applications
Sharp’s new tuneable white, mid-power SMD-based LED for SSL lighting applications comprises two different correlated colour temperature (CCT) emitters that together produce light output that can be steplessly 'tuned' over the range of 2700–6500K. It will get its first public outing at the Light+Building trade-show in Frankfurt (March 30 – April 4 2014).
Multi-touch panel PC targets infotainment, retail applications
Slim enough for infotainment and retail use, Review Display Systems (RDS) is now offering the ACP-1073HTT-A1, a 7in. fanless, multi-touch panel PC from AAEON. The ultra-slim panel chassis measures 20mm deep and the LCD measures just 13mm deep for integration into the most space-constrained panels.
Touchscreen display kits create portable, low power Raspberry Pi applications
Two touchscreen display starter kits for the Raspberry Pi have been released by RS Components. The company says that that provide a quick and easy wiring interface and are ideal for creating portable and low power Raspberry Pi projects and applications. The starter kits for the 2.8in. uLCD-28PTU-PI and 4.3in. uLCD-43PTU-PI modules have been developed by 4D Systems and provide all the components needed for users to connect their Raspberry Pi...
