Optimise display performance in rugged, outdoor applications
Direct bonding improves the sunlight readability of displays by filling the gap between the rear of the cover glass and the front of the display with an optically clear index matched adhesive. This reduces the internal reflections between these surfaces and dramatically increases the contract enhancement ratio resulting in significant improvement in sunlight readability.
Specialty glass unites people with technology
SCHOTT offers a wide variety of specialty glass products for use in touch displays. From cover glasses for large format professional displays in public places to protective glasses for smartphones, tablets and Ultrabooks and even control panels and displays in automobiles, the company offers many different solutions. The second main focus will be on wafers made of ultra-thin glass for applications in semiconductor technology, but also for applica...
Optimised interfaces for modern embedded systems with touch
Distec has announced that it now provides high quality touch solutions with I²C interfaces, which are 30-40% cheaper than comparable USB versions. Featuring a very sleek design and a black mat rear printing, they are available in sizes of 5, 7, 10.1 and 10.4" diagonal.
'Vandal-proof' touchscreen is suitable for outdoor use
The DTSF-17MOFP, described by Display Solutions as a vandal-proof, open frame touch display, has been introduced as the latest addition to the company's DisplayTouch range. Designed for high impact resistance and outdoor environments, the DTSF-17MOFP is suitable for applications including POS, ATM, gaming, kiosk and ticketing.
Improved touchscreens deliver versatility & durability
Cypress’ TrueTouch Gen4X touchscreen controller family has been modified to support the company's SLIM (Single-Layer Independent Multi-touch) sensor structure, enabling thin form factors and improving multiple finger and glove tracking.
Surface-mounted LED doubles pixel density
The surface mountable Displix Oval is an LED developed by Osram Opto Semiconductors with oval light-radiating characteristicsfor large-screen video walls, petrol station price signs and digital road signs. Thanks to a compact housing measuring just 2.1 x 2.7 x 1.5 mm (including lens), almost twice as many LEDs can now be mounted on a board than with ordinary radial diodes, doubling both the pixel density and the resolution of displays.
Harsh environments won't faze industrial TFT-LCD monitor
Industrial display users can work in harsh environments so Vecow has developed a TFT-LCD featuring a high reliability, multi-touch projected capacitive screen that works with gloves. It is a compact, slim, 21.5in,16:9 Full HD display with true high-brightness low-power LED backlighting. It provides precise image and reliable continuous operation.
Bright sunlight won't faze TFT colour LCD module
A TFT Colour LCD module manufactured specifically to be readable in bright or sunlight conditions in industrial settings has been introduced by Review Display Systems. The NL12880BC20-07F WXGA is a 1280 x 800 resolution TFT display with a contrast ratio of 800:1 (typical) and a screen luminance of 1,800cd/m², making it truly readable in sunlight.
Capacitive touchscreen line driver increases SNR
Microchip has expanded its Human Interface Input Sensing Solutions portfolio with the MTCH652, a standalone integrated high-voltage line driver. Increasing SNR for advanced projected-capacitive touch performance, the device can interface to any touch controller via SPI to drive up to 19 transmit channels at selectable voltages up to 18V.
Displays' backlights last for 100,000 hours
Kyocera has revealed that the company has extended the backlight lifespan to 100,000 hours in 26 of its LCD modules. Available in sizes between 4.3 and 21", the long-life portfolio includes standard modules and modules suitable for use in extended temperature ranges, extremely bright light and in applications that require very wide view angles.
