3M is showcasing its second generation Super Close Projection (SCP) system to the professional AV market for the first time at ISE (Stand N112). The new SCP712 system combines pioneering short-throw off-angle projection with a modular wall-mounting system for greater flexibility and performance at an affordable price.
“We previewed the system for the first time anywhere in the world at London’s BETT 2008 education exhibition and feedback from end users was extremely positive – we even took our first order from a primary school,” commented Paul Gardner, Sales and Marketing Manager, 3M’s Projection Systems Department. “The folding arm and unique system modularity were well received, particularly the neat I/O control box as it is simple to use, has all the necessary functionality and it makes the presentation area neat and tidy.”

3M’s modular system scales from a basic data projection only product up to a high specification multimedia solution, depending on customers’ specific needs and budget. Optional items include the SCP712 projector, fixed wall-mount, folding wall-mount without speakers, folding wall mount with speakers, I/O connection box and annotation pod.

The SCP712 projector features revolutionary Vikuiti Super Close Projection technology from 3M which enables presenters to work in close proximity to the screen with minimal shadowing and lamp glare. It has low maintenance DLP technology, XGA resolution and 2000 lumens (1500 in eco mode) for crystal-clear, larger-than-life images across an image of up to 80” diagonal. It also has the same appealing design as the Digital Media System (DMS) 700 series, yet delivers improved performance including colour reproduction at a very competitive price point. Furthermore, it has no direct video feed, which makes it ideal for those who simply require a data only projector.

The SCP712 projector can be attached to a fixed wall-mount or a swinging arm wall-mount, available with or without powerful 40W stereo speakers. The patented swinging arm mechanism allows the system to be safely stowed and locked away when not in use.

If greater connectivity is required, customers can add the I/O connection box that connects with the SCP712 via a single cable and provides the user with full connectivity such as video, PC 2 in/1 out, USB, Ethernet and RS232 control. The control box is easily accessible, simple to use and avoids the need for a remote control, which can be mislaid or stolen.

For customers wanting to use the system above dry erase boards, or even smooth, light colored walls, the annotation pod can be added to turn these surfaces into interactive whiteboards.

With the rapid acceleration in the interactive whiteboard market across most of Europe, and the unique benefits provided by Vikuiti Super Close Projection, 3M is in a strong position to bring its second generation products to market in 2008. The SCP712 projector and modular system will be available at the end of Q1 2008.
