Anders Electronics has announced an integrated 3.5-inch VGA (640x480 pixel) resolution touchscreen TFT module designed for use in next-generation portable devices, data collection equipment and industrial handhelds.
The Toppoly TD035STEE1 integrates a transflective RGB LCD, four-wire resistive touchscreen and backlight into a single module. It uses advanced LTPS (low temperature poly-silicon) technology to achieve better contrast ratios and higher brightness and pixel density than competing amorphous silicon displays.

Toppoly’s chip on glass (COG) and system on panel (SOP) architecture is deployed to good effect within the TD035STEE1 to achieve a very high level of integration: this in turn reduces the number of external connections and components, simplifies systems design and improves reliability.

System design is further eased by Anders Electronics’ development kit, which includes everything the engineer requires to drive the display from their own microcontroller, COM (computer-on-module) or system-on-module (SoM). Based around an Anders proprietary interface card (AED550), the development kit can also be enhanced by the inclusion of a CM-X255 or CM-X270W XScale SoM, providing a true “plug and play” solution.

The transflective TD035STEE1 displays 262k colours and exhibits exceptional brightness: typically 150cd/m2 with backlight on. Contrast ratio is typically 180:1, and the modules exhibit very wide (80°) viewing angles when used in either portrait or landscape mode.
The product is RoHS-compliant and samples and evaluation kits are available now.
