Designed for RISC-based COM hardware platforms powered by the Freescale ARM Cortex-A9 i.MX6 processor, EVKs have been released by Advantech. The EVKs, which can be used with Qseven, SMARC and RTX 2.0 processors, evaluate function and performance validation, hardware design and application development.

The EVKs are offered with reference designs for each carrier board, providing users with samples of all features. Integrated I/O and chips are also provided, offering further reference designs to allow users to develop their own carrier boards. The evaluation board can be used for trouble shooting and as a benchmark for cross comparison. The EVKs provide an error-free and well-integrated standard board, which is essential for quality assurance and testing.

To allow users to validate the performance of a variety of OS through one hardware platform, Advantech have released their OS image in Linux, Android, Ubuntu and WinCE. Through Advantech's sales channels, the source code of the supported OS can be obtained for free. Related documents such as carrier board schematics, reference design guide, and user manuals are also downloadable from the product website, enabling users to improve the validation and development of their COMs.

To minimise installation time, the EVKs support I/O testing. For users who require WiFi, 3G, GPS and camera, Advantech provides a compatible peripheral list for each EVK. The company have tested and approved the compatibility of peripheral devices and integrated and verified the drivers.

Included within the EVK package is a ROM series RISC-based COM, an evaluation carrier board, a power adapter, a LVDS panel and cables for device connection. To meet the requirements of high temperature environments, the package also includes a heat spreader/semi-heatsink.
