MSC announce the availability of the Renesas Starter Kit for the RZ/A1 group of microprocessors, enabling a quick start into the development of cost-sensitive, compact Human Machine Interface applications. Launched in June 2013 with on chip SRAM of 3 MB, 5 MB or 10 MB, the RZ/A1 group of MPUs can drive displays up to 1280x768 pixels resolution without the need for external RAM.

Supplied with a 7-inch WVGA touch panel screen to enable systems designers to develop their own GUI directly on the development board, the Renesas Starter Kit features a development board with the MPU itself as well as connectors for CAN, Ethernet, camera interface, audio interface, SD card, USB 2.0 host and USB 2.0 function. It also includes a SEGGER J-Link Lite JTAG debugger, universal power supply and a PMOD debug screen to assist with application debugging.

Supported by both the ARM IAR IDE and the ARM DS-5 IDE, a free GCC compiler is supplied with the kit, meaning that programming can start immediately without additional costs for special software tools. Ensuring additional time and cost-savings, there are more than a dozen different software examples (including source code) freely available to developers.
