Quantum CAD, one of the UK’s leading specialists in the provision of PCB design services and full product design, today announced that it will run a free PCB Surgery during National Electronics Week in May.
Visitors to the show are invited to bring along their PCB design files or physical boards, and get a free PCB health check from the Quantum CAD engineering and design experts. The PCB Surgery will advise on issues such as reverse engineering, signal integrity and pre-design studies, carry out electromagnetic compatibility and reliability testing and consult on quality management and compliance issues. The feedback will highlight potential design for manufacturability, test and assembly issues and suggest modifications. The ‘doctors’ will also advise on the impact of new technology and components on the designs.

The benefits of checking PCB designs before prototyping and going into production are manifold. The number of necessary prototypes gets reduced, design times and ultimately development costs are significantly lowered, manufacturing costs are greatly reduced due to fewer Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and approval cycles are minimised.

Electronic products with PCB designs that have undergone thorough checks are right-first-time and faster to market, cutting out a lot of competition.

Steve Jones, Managing Director at Quantum CAD said: “We are dealing with a high number of PCB designs for various industries on a daily basis, and come across all sorts of issues and challenges. Many of our customers tell us that our design consultancy service is a lifesaver, so we are happy to extend this service to anyone visiting NEW in May. Just bear in mind that similar to the NHS, booking an appointment is necessary, but there are no lengthy waiting lists, and ‘patients’ will go home with a definite diagnosis and treatment plan.”
