HCC Embedded has extended its MISRA- compliant TCP/IP stack to include HTTP, SMTP, SNTP/NTP and SNMP protocols. These additions give embedded developer access to an extensive range of network protocols, all supplied with rigorous MISRA-compliance reports and a full test suite that verifies target functionality. This level of quality, security and test improves reliability and shortens time to market.

HCC’s network stack is provided with process verification documents such as a fully MISRA-compliant static- and dynamic-code analysis report. Full software life-cycle documentation is also available and can be licensed as a separate component. This verification proves that the software has been developed and tested according to strong process rules and is not vulnerable to the weaknesses and security breaches that can result as a consequence of ‘freestyle’ coding.

The addition of time synchronisation protocols greatly extends the range of applications that can be implemented using the stack. Embedded HTTP server and mail functionality with such a high level of documented quality is rare, and the reliability and quality of applications that use it are greatly enhanced. The HCC TCP/IPv4 and IPv6 implementations are designed specifically for MCUs, ensuring a low-memory footprint that can be as low as 20kB ROM / 8kB RAM. It uses a standard socket interface that eases integration to many embedded applications.

Dave Hughes, Chief Executive Officer, HCC Embedded, comments: “Too many networking quality and security issues are caused by lack of process and methodology in the stack development. HCC takes high-quality software seriously and provides evidence to support the integrity of the code.”
