PRQA | Programming Research has been announced as a preferred supplier by Mentor Graphics. Following a competitive tool evaluation in 2008, Mentor Graphics Automotive Network Design selected PRQA’s QA∙C toolset based on its MISRA compliance and PRQA’s technical training. Mentor Graphics’ Automotive Networking Business Unit, located in Hungary, Budapest, used PRQA’s QA∙C in the development of Volcano; an in-vehicle network design tool. An initial prototype deployment using QA∙C with MISRA in 2008 was followed by full rollout to a satellite site in Egypt, with further investment and upgraded licences for the Budapest office.
“QA∙C with MISRA helped us to identify issues and bugs at a very early stage during development, which saved us time and money in fixing them. As well as the tool implementation, we also received MISRA training for our whole team after deployment of the solution. This helped us to get all the engineers focused on MISRA and guide them in the same direction. I think the combination of the technical solution and training helped us to deliver a high quality product”, said Mr Zoltan Mihaci, responsible for the software development and engineering department in Budapest.

The Volcano solution provides the Shanghai Automotive Industries (SAIC) with comprehensive networking and data communication design tools for networking systems. Within this comprehensive solution the MISRA Guidelines must be adopted and compliance assured. Following extensive studies and evaluation, Mentor found PRQA’s QA∙C toolset had the highest MISRA compliancy, further benefited by QA∙C’s easy build integration and convenient developer interactions.
