Kontron announced today two new embedded motherboards built on the 2nd generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors, the Kontron Flex-ATX embedded motherboard KTQ67/Flex and the Kontron Mini-ITX embedded motherboard KTQM67/mITX. These high-quality and rugged boards offer best-in-class quad core processors with increased processor performance and double the graphics performance of predecessor platforms. With long-term availability, these are Kontron's highest performing ATX-compliant embedded designs.
With their extensive range of interfaces, the Kontron Mini-ITX and Flex-ATX embedded motherboards simplify the design-in process because they include all required standard interfaces for a broad range of computing-intensive and graphics-intensive applications. In addition, they support Kontron's cross-platform Kontron Embedded Application Programming Interface (KEAPI) middleware, which speeds up application development significantly and noticeably reduces time-to-market and total cost of ownership.

With the integrated Intel Turbo Boost technology 2.0 and Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel AVX), customer applications profit from quicker floating point operations and vectorial calculations with reduced power consumption - ideal for imaging processes in industrial automation, medical and military applications. In addition, with the integrated Intel HD graphics the new motherboards offer for the first time 2D and 3D graphics performance with DirectX10.1 and OpenGL 3.0 support on-board at the level of dedicated graphics cards. Graphics-intensive applications, such as digital signage, infotainment and gaming profit from these embedded motherboards. Even multi-screen applications with simultaneous presentation of two separate HD videos or innovative 3-D BluRay applications are possible with the Kontron KTQ67 embedded motherboards, without additional components. Customers can implement high-performance digital signage applications with several displays in a cost-efficient manner using only one hardware platform. Moreover, with 2x DisplayPort, 1x DVI or VGA and LVDS, the new embedded motherboards support all industry-relevant monitor standards without additional adapters or cost. Finally, the implemented embedded feature connector, supporting up to 160 GPIO and analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and digital-to-analog converter (DAC), makes the new embedded motherboards ideal for applications with high I/O requirements.
