Lanner Electronics is pleased to announced their partnership with Tilera which will create a range of high-performance, standards-based software programmable packet processing appliance platforms. The first hardware platform to benefit from this partnership is Lanner’s FW-8895. This 2U appliance can accommodate up to eight modules that are each equipped with Tilera’s TILE-Gx36TM processor.
“This is sufficient to handle some of the most demanding packet processing applications, and most importantly, it takes the complete packet classification, filtering and processing load away from the often overburdened central CPU. Two Intel Xeon E5-2600 CPUs of FW-8895 are reserved for running applications,” said Jesse Chiang, Senior Director of the Technology Architecture & Alliances department at Lanner Electronics.

“Lanner has created a compelling platform that fully leverages the TILE-Gx36 processor,” said Satish Ganesan, Director of Marketing at Tilera Corporation. “The appliance is targeted for applications that require packet processing functions such as DPI, IDS/IPS and cryptography to be offloaded due to the rapidly increasing workload computation gap. The performance efficiency and overall scalability of the TILE-Gx family of processors enables this type of a solution. We are looking forward to creating more innovative products with Lanner Electronics in the future.”

In addition to demonstrating the FW-8895 at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, Lanner will be demonstrating the appliance at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 25-28 in hall 8 stand 81K27.
