Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) has announced a commitment to deliver Freescale Semiconductor’s QorIQ P4080 in eight unique form factors covering the entire embedded product market. Hosting eight e500 cores based on Power Architecture technology with IEEE754 compliant double precision floating point unit support and running each core up to 1.5 GHz, the P4080 delivers enhanced performance and efficiency for today’s embedded computing applications.
The P4080 processor boasts dual channel DDR3-1600 with three levels of cache, providing expansive I/O capabilities including three PCI Express 2.0 ports, two SRIO 1.2 ports, two XAUI ports and eight Gigabit Ethernet ports. X-ES’s commitment to customers evolving needs and product diversification are proven by the aggressive roadmap below:

To satisfy the widest range of customer applications from telecommunications to MIL-STD 810F military requirements, P4080 products are engineered to scale from normal commercial (0-55ºC) to full conduction cooled (-40 to +85ºC) with appropriate shock and vibration testing, too. Wind River VxWorks, QNX Neutrino, Green Hills INTEGRITY and Linux Board Support Packages (BSP’s) are available for all X-ES hardware for the QorIQ P4080 processors.

“Freescale’s commitment to future Power Architecture roadmaps and evolving technologies combined with Extreme’s dedication to integrating these advances in all form factors provides customers with huge compute advantages while maintaining their PowerPC code base” states Bret Farnum, VP of Sales.

“Extreme Engineering Solutions’ new family of products based on Freescale’s QorIQ P4080 processor offers an outstanding blend of high performance, rich features and energy efficiency. The offerings continue X-ES’ solid track record of delivering compelling products based on Freescale technology,” said Stephen Turnbull, high performance portfolio director with Freescale’s Networking & Multimedia Group.
