Software tools & Arduino libraries support EVE ICs
Designed to support engineers using the FT800 and FT801 Embedded Video Engine (EVE) graphic controller ICs, FTDI Chip has announced supply a comprehensive suite of additional support facilities. This support includes a behaviour modelling software tool, a development module, a Windows-based software tool and a set of Arduino libraries.
Remote I/O kit reduces smart factory steps by 60%
A complete hardware and software reference solution for the development of remote I/O devices has been released by Renesas Electronics. The Remote I/O Trial Kit is suitable for devices typically used for I/O monitoring, communication and industrial process control.
Storage and the connected car
Automotive storage always used to refer to how much boot space a car had, or whether there was a sizeable glove box and sunglasses holder. Today, automotive storage is also used to refer to the amount of digital storage space a car contains – and as more and more of our work and entertainment are delivered digitally, the importance of digital storage increases. By Boris Hafner, Senior Manager, Automotive Sales, Toshiba Electronics Europe.
Getting started in sensorless field-oriented control
How sensorless field-oriented control can offer precise torque-based control and high speed, without a costly, error-prone position sensor. By Michael Seidl, Business Development Manager, Texas Instruments.
What autonomous driving technology is now available?
While much of the technology required to realise self-driving cars is now available, Steve Rogerson looks at what still needs to be done.
Collaboration opens way to free component evaluation tool
Customers of distributor Mouser Electronics can now access MultiSIM BLUE, the NI Multisim Component Evaluator – Mouser Edition. A collaboration between the two companies has produced a Mouser version of the free tool that will add features and functionality to provide engineers with an industry-standard SPICE simulation environment of electronic circuits using Mouser Electronics’ distributed components.
Long range RF technology selected for IoT solutions
LoRa, long range RF technology manufactured by Semtech, has been selected by Microchip Technology for use in the development of solutions for IoT and M2M. This technology enables long range, low power connectivity that previously had been unrealisable. Competing short-range technology requires too many repeaters and too much infrastructure to achieve wide coverage.
Everything is a network
We are entering a new era in networking, where processing is being pushed to the edge and nodes are starting to look more like networks in their own right. Philip Ling, Editor, ES Design magazine, reports.
EMIR solution aims to create fastest path to design closure
A transistor-level EMIR solution, designated the Voltus-Fi Custom Power Integrity Solution, has been introduced by Cadence. Delivering foundry-certified, SPICE-level accuracy in power signoff, the solution aims to create the fastest path to design closure. Enabled by the company's Spectre Accelerated Parallel Simulator signoff SPICE simulation, the company claims that the solution provides best-in-class accuracy at the transistor level, thereby m...
Starter kits speed time-to-market for IoT devices
Providing various drivers for rich Internet applications using HTML5, Toshiba's BTZ5000-2MA-A1 and RBTZ5000-6MA-A1 starter kits speed the development of web applications using the Toshiba TZ5000 Application Processor Lite (ApP Lite) series. The kits enable users to easily introduce embedded development environments and speed time-to-market for IoT, streaming media and other content-rich consumer devices.
