Synchronisation adapter connects Android & big data
To enable the collection of big data on-the-go, ITTIA has introduced bidirectional synchronisation for Android apps. The company has announced that ITTIA DB SQL can handle the high volume of sensitive data that is managed and collected on mobile devices.
Innovating with the Raspberry Pi B+
The Raspberry Pi B+, launched earlier this year, can be seen as the next evolution to the Raspberry Pi board and is stacked with interesting new features, adding even more functionality and possibilities to designers, innovators and engineers. By Andy Laing, Raspberry Pi Global Product Manager, element14.
Development tools are the highest performing on the market
CoreMark benchmark scores for the ARM Cortex-M7 core suggest that IAR Systems' IAR Embedded Workbench is the highest performing ARM Cortex-M microcontroller development toolchain on the market. The toolchain, which includes the IAR C/C++ Compiler, provides a wide range of debugging and analysis possibilities to more than 3,000 ARM devices.
Development system enables integrated code development
Featuring a base processor board with real-time hardware debug facilities, the xCORE-XA development system has been released by XMOS. The system, which is designed for the company's xCORE-XA range of eXtended Architecture xCORE devices, is offered with xTIMEcomposer Studio tools for integrated code development.
Verification tool shortens time-to-market for advanced SoCs
Saving months on the time-to-market for complex SoC designs, Synopsys has introduced Verification Continuum. The platform accelerates industry innovation for earlier software bring-up and shorter time-to-market for advanced SoCs. The verification tool provides virtual prototyping, static and formal verification, simulation, emulation, FPGA-based prototyping and debug, verification IP, planning and coverage technology.
Find hard-to-detect defects in Java code
Enabling developers to find hard-to-detect defects in Java code, Coverity, a Synopsys company, has launched the Coverity Code Spotter cloud-based service. Free to the software development community during the beta period, the service is built on Coverity's static code analysis technology.
Starter kits ease the development of BLE subsystems
Comprised of a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) IC, MCU, sensors and associated software, Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced a starter kit. The TC35667FTG BLE IC integrates a highly efficient DC/DC converter in a low-power circuit design, reducing peak current consumption to less than 6mA and deep sleep current consumption to less than 100nA.
AUTOSAR software provides a basis for reference designs
Vector's MICROSAR software has been supplied to BMW for a reference integration of the “BAC4 Release 2” AUTOSAR Core. The software focuses on internal vehicle communications over CAN, FlexRay and Ethernet. Due to reduced integration and testing needs, BMW and its ECU suppliers benefit from shortened development times.
Upgrade legacy VME & cPCI systems to MicroTCA
This whitepaper from VadaTech, 'Upgrading your Legacy VME and CompactPCI Systems to MicroTCA', explores how to upgrade ststems to MicroTCA. This architecture provides robust system management, inter-processor bandwidth and high-reliability features to offer a more interoperable and lower cost solution than competing standards, such as VME and cPCI.
RTL synthesis solution reduces design area by 10%
Synopsys have announced that a number of customers using it's Design Compiler RTL synthesis solution have achieved smaller design areas. To reduce system costs or incorporate additional functionality without increasing die size, area optimisation is particularly important for designers across a wide range of electronic applications.
