Delivering an IP reference system for IoT applications
Cadence Design Systems has announced a reference system jointly developed with ARM that is targeted at Internet of Things (IoT) systems. This is the first product following the strategic IP Interoperability Agreement (IPIA) signed by Cadence and ARM that allows the companies reciprocal access to relevant IP portfolios.
Simulation VIP speeds development of IoT designs
The verification IP (VIP) for the ARM AMBA 5 Advanced High-Performance Bus 5 (AHB5) specification has been announced by Cadence Design Systems. The announcement covers two new VIP titles in Cadence’s portfolio including simulation VIP and assertion-based VIP.
Extending the reach of ARM
It has been announced that ThreadX RTOS from Express Logic now supports ARMv8 64-bit processors, including the Cortex-A53, Cortex-A57 and Cortex-A72 processors. Although 32-bit devices currently dominate the embedded space - with the ARM 32-bit Cortex processors commanding the lion’s share of the market - there is a growing demand for 64-bit processors like the ARMv8.
PROFIBUS slave stack available for industrial automation
Renesas Electronics Europe and TMG TE has announced the PROFIBUS slave stack availability for the R-IN Family. The two companies have expanded their partnership to provide system solutions for Renesas’ R-IN32M3 series of industrial Ethernet communication Application Specific Standard Products (ASSPs) and RZ/T1 group of MPUs. In addition to the extensive set of industrial Ethernet protocols, an optimised PROFIBUS slave implementation is now ...
IAR Systems beefs up trace capabilities for ARM developers
IAR Systems is releasing a new version of its high-performance C/C++ compiler and debugger toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM. The release adds extended trace capabilities with the enhanced Embedded Trace Macrocell (ETMv4) for ARM Cortex-M7 as well as Program Trace Macrocell (PTM) for recent ARM Cortex-A cores.
Collaboration helps customers optimise their designs
Mentor Graphics has announced that it is collaborating with GLOBALFOUNDRIES to qualify the Mentor RTL to GDS platform. This is to include the RealTime Designer physical RTL synthesis solution and Olympus-SoC place & route system, for the current version of the GLOBALFOUNDRIES 22FDX platform reference flow.
Software, design data move to global distribution platform
Digi-Key Electronics and Accelerated Designs have signed an exclusive, global distribution agreement covering software and design data. Accelerated Designs focuses on providing engineers and electronics manufacturers EDA-tool-neutral software and data that improves efficiency of adding and managing new parts when designing circuits and printed circuit boards.
Ultra-low power MCU development kits for Apollo MCUs
Ambiq Micro has announced a duo of Apollo MCU evaluation kits to enable engineers to assess the capabilities and cutting-edge low-power performance of the Apollo sub-threshold MCU: the ‘Apollo EVB’ evaluation board and the ‘Apollo EVK’ evaluation kit.
Increasing design flexibility
It has been announced that the Digital and Signoff tools from Cadence Design Systems are now enabled for the current version of the GLOBALFOUNDRIES 22FDX platform reference flow.
Advanced system-level capabilities in next-gen VC Verification IP
Synopsys announces the availability of advanced system-level capabilities in its next-gen VC Verification IP (VIP) for the ARM AMBA 4 ACE and AMBA 5 CHI protocols, as well as availability of verification IP for the recently announced AMBA 5 AHB5 protocol. The AMBA 4 ACE specifications are used for full coherency between processors and AMBA 5 CHI is an architecture for system scalability in enterprise SoCs.
