Collaboration expanded to optimise 7nm semiconductor processes
Imec has announced the expansion of a joint development project to explore process variation issues in 7nm semiconductor technology. For over a year, the joint team has been using Coventor’s semiconductor process modeling platform, SEMulator3D, to perform predictive modeling of semiconductor fabrication processes and to proactively analyse process variation issues in 7nm semiconductor technology.
Software update enhances asymmetric & freeform optical design
Synopsys has announced the release of its CODE V version 10.8 software application for the design of imaging optical systems. This release supports the design of high-performance asymmetric and freeform optical systems with algorithmic enhancements that yield highly accurate computations of optical system parameters and enable precise control of those parameters during design optimisation.
Design tool release speeds complex photonics design
Synopsys has announced version 2015.12 of the Synopsys RSoft Photonic System Design Suite, which includes new features to accelerate the design and fabrication of state-of-the-art silicon photonics, photonic ICs and optical transceivers in data centre applications. Also announced, version 2015.06-2 of the RSoft Photonic Component Design Suite enables faster simulations of complex photonic component designs with new, flexible cluster licensing pol...
Latest 3D measurement software release adds solid modelling
Verisurf Software has announced the release of Verisurf X9. The new release of the 3D measurement software includes the addition of Verisurf SOLIDS, a complete 3D solid modelling application, as well as major productivity enhancements to each of the modules that comprise the Verisurf solution – CAD, MEASURE, ANALYSIS and REVERSE.
Collaboration enables design flow for electronic/photonic ICs
Cadence Design Systems has collaborated with Lumerical Solutions and PhoeniX to jointly develop an integrated Electronic/Photonic Design Automation (EPDA) environment for Photonic ICs (PICs). Built around the Cadence Virtuoso custom design platform, the EPDA environment enables schematic or layout-driven design flows for photonic and electronic circuits, photonic component parameter extraction and model generation, photonic circuit simulation and...
Zilog announces World of Motors reference design
Zilog has introduced its World of Motors reference design, expanding its portfolio of motor control solutions. The World of Motors (WoM) Reference Design Board is a development platform built on Zilog’s series of Mini-Z stamp modules, designed to provide engineers, students and enthusiasts with an easy to use platform for developing prototypes and projects related to motor control.
Dual Card Reader Chip is based on Cortus APS23
Synic Solution and Cortus announced that the Synic SKY5000 integrated Dual Card Reader solution uses a Cortus APS23 core to enable the flexible implementation of user applications. The Synic SKY5000 is fully compliant with the EMV4.1 standard for secure payment transactions and the ISO-7816 standard for smartcards with contacts and supports Class A/B/C supplies with an external 5V power input.
Floating point processor suitable for connected devices
Cortus announced the release of the FPS26 single precision floating point IP core, the third in a family of products based on the Cortus v2 instruction set. The core is aimed at embedded systems requiring good floating point computational performance while also delivering small silicon area and low power dissipation.
HiFi DSPs now support Maxim's dynamic speaker management software
The Dynamic Speaker Management (DSM) software from Maxim Integrated has been ported and optimised to efficiently run on Cadence Tensilica HiFi Audio/Voice DSPs. Designers are typically faced with inherent problems, including weak sound and lack of bass response within micro speakers. In addition, they can easily break and produce distorted sound. Maxim’s technology balances bigger sound and better sound quality with lower power and improved...
