Analogue front end targets power monitoring applications
The ADS131E08S analogue front end (AFE) for power monitoring from Texas Instruments (TI) is now being shipped by Mouser Electronics. The AFE is a multichannel, simultaneous sampling, 24-bit, delta-sigma, analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) with an integrated programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and short start-up time (3 milliseconds).
Ryder Industries opts for Microsoft ERP Suite
Ryder Industries has announced they have selected Microsoft Dynamics to run its next-generation ERP system. According to the company, this will ensure 24/7 performance, delivered by a system maintained to world-class standards. Set to go live in early 2017, an all-functions team has been reviewing Ryder’s process for the past six months to obtain the best results from this new-generation system, building on Ryder’s established s...
How much security does your device really require?
Everyone knows that security is critical for IoT devices but how much is needed for various types of devices? Obviously control systems in a nuclear reactor need a higher level of security than that in a home toaster. But how does an engineer decide? Icon Labs has announced a whitepaper for IoT Device Engineers and manufacturers, available here.
LG uses Qt to save webOS 3.0 Smart TV development time
The Qt Company has revealed that LG Electronics has used the Qt cross-platform application and UI development framework in the creation of its webOS 3.0 smart TV platform. Qt’s ability to handle high performance rich graphics underpins the user experience delivered by LG’s 2016 range of smart TVs. The two companies have signed a multi-year technology agreement.
'Industry's first' MIPI I3C IP for sensor connectivity
Synopsys has announced immediate availability of the industry's first MIPI I3C controller IP to ease the integration of multiple sensors into applications such as mobile, automotive and the IoT. The Synopsys DesignWare MIPI I3C Controller IP incorporates in-band interrupts within the 2-wire interface to deliver low pin count.
Security rules available in LDRA MISRA compliance offerings
With increased connectivity of applications and devices, OEMS in the automotive, aerospace, defense, medical, industrial automation, energy, and rail transportation sectors are demanding assurance that software has been developed to the highest security standards. To help customers guard against new risks and create safe and secure code, LDRA has integrated comprehensive support of the security-focused rules announced by MISRA into LDRA’s M...
MCU debug technology upgrade speeds development times
J-Link firmware has been introduced by SEGGER for the embedded ST-LINK on STM32 Nucleo, STM32 Discovery and other microcontroller unit (MCU) evaluation boards from STMicroelectronics. The upgrade turns a board’s ST-LINK interface into a fully functional J-Link, which can then be employed to debug the board's application processor.
Hypervisor technology for cars in mass production
Flexible processors with high processing power have increasing importance as the hardware basis for in-car cockpit electronics and connectivity systems. Together with hypervisor platforms they offer vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers the suitable solution for in-vehicle systems. The COQOS Software Development Kit (COQOS SDK) from OpenSynergy is the core technology of the telematics unit of the German truck manufacturer MAN. The software pl...
Hardening techniques help device connectivity
Technologies for advanced software hardening have recently been developed by GrammaTech. Most devices on the market today were not designed to support the high levels of connectivity, access and remote operations of today’s IoT systems.
Reducing power consumption and turnaround times
The Cadence Innovus Implementation System from Cadence Design Systems has been adopted by Toshiba Corporation for its memory controller’s production design project. The tool enabled Toshiba to achieve an optimal target performance while creating a 16% smaller place and route (P&R) area for random logic with 25% lower power consumption when compared with its previous solution.
