UR Group's new ultra-compact configurable power supply offers rugged, low-noise performance and short lead times for military applications up to 400W. Optimised for deployment in land-based vehicles and for airborne applications, and compatible with 12V or 24V electrical infrastructure, the new power supplies pass MIL-STD 810 and MIL-STD 1275 environmental and electrical tests.
UR Group has announced that its ISO 9001:2008 standard certification, which was achieved as early as 2001 for its UK business, has now been extended successfully to other European countries in which it operates. These countries include France, Germany, Italy, as well Spain and Sweden.
UR Group has announced that it will be attending the DSEi show which runs September 8-11 (Excel Centre, stand 260). UR, a pan-European provider of specialist COTS power and data transmission solutions to the defence industry, will feature an extensive range of distributed and centralised power solutions. These will include TDI's cutting edge 'LiquaCore' vehicle liquid cooled power technology, as well as UR Group's new configurable compact in-line vehicle power supply. UR will also be running a live 'RF-over-Fibre' L Band transmission demo on its stand. RF-over-Fibre converts radio signals to light. The light signal is transmitted through low-cost fibre cable ensuring reliability and integrity with no reduction in signal strength.
UR Group has extended its range of dual-band GSM/GPRS data modules, giving designers the extra choice of a surface-mount module for direct soldering to the PCB, with QFN pinning and a footprint of 30.2mm x 20.8mm. UR's new module, the Teltonika TM1, combines its small outline with a total height of only 2.87mm. This is approximately half the height of the Teltonika TM2 plug-in board introduced by UR in 2008, and brings the TM2's comprehensive voice and data functions to miniaturised, tightly integrated board designs.
UR Group has introduced a four-band GSM/GPRS module with a sub-2mA sleep mode, 300mA in-call current, low weight and compact footprint to extend the operating envelope of embedded M2M and telematics applications. The module supports supplementary services, with SMS via GSM or GPRS, cell broadcast, and speech modes including support for basic hands-free.
UR Group has introduced two new AC-DC 12V power supplies for 150W and 250W applications, optimised for high efficiency and power density, and certified to EN60950-1 and EN60601-1 for use in safety-centric designs such as non-patient-connected and non-patient-critical medical equipment or information technology equipment (ITE) used by children.
UR Group has signed a distribution agreement with NeoPhotonics, the second-ranked firm in Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 listing for Silicon Valley. The new agreement considerably expands UR Group's portfolio to include a complete line of both active and passive optical components for every network market segment: FTTH/Access, datacom, storage area networks, metro and long haul networks.
The Artesyn NLP250 series expands the range of low-to-mid-power solutions available from UR Group. This high-density, high-efficiency switching power supply is only 3.8 cm high with a footprint of just 10.2 x 17.8cm (4x7in) making it suitable for 1U high applications. The range offers up to 250W from 0C to 70C (derating from 50C to 70C) with a typical efficiency of 86%.
UR Group has been appointed by US-based Enpirion as its UK sales partner. Enpirion produces what is said to be the world's smallest Power System on Silicon (PSoS) – the first and only all-silicon, switch-mode DC-DC converter with an integrated inductor. The company's patented technology provides a powerful Point of Load (PoL) solution that incorporates a Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) controller, power FETs, compensation circuitry and magnetic components in a single, turnkey IC package.
UR Group has established a partnership with Metalink, a leading provider of high-performance silicon solutions facilitating the convergence of telecommunication, networking and entertainment.
UR Group has appointed Graham Langdon as Area Sales Manager for the Northern Home Counties and East Anglia. Graham, who lives near Colchester, Essex, joins the company from Cummins Power Generation Ltd and has more than 20 years' experience in electronics sales.
UR has introduced the RFF series of isolated full-brick converters, manufactured by Artesyn Technologies and suitable for use with RF (radio frequency) power amplifiers. The new RFF series of converters comprises five 28V output models, offering a choice of two input voltage ranges and three output current ratings for optimum application flexibility. The range-topping RFF700 model is capable of delivering 25A at 28V (700W), yielding a power density in excess of 7.7 W/cm3.
UR Group has appointed Peter Melling as Area Sales Manager for northern England. Peter, who lives in Morecambe, Lancashire, joins the company from Acal plc and has 20 years' experience in electronics sales, including 10 years specialising in the power sector.
