With integrated VID pins to enable independent configuration and control of the output voltages of each regulator, the SC283 eliminates the need for two pairs of external feedback resistors, further reducing the overall design footprint of the device. Semtech has announced two additions to its MICROClamp family of protection devices, the uClamp 0511T and the uClamp 1211T – both of which feature the ultra low profile, low leakage and low capacitance needed for mobile phone and portable designs. Both parts are designed to replace multilayer varistors (MLVs) in portable applications, offering the same small size with improved clamping voltage and protection. The bidirectional uClampxx11T parts are packaged in Semtech's two-pin SLP1006P2T package measuring only 1.0 x 0.6 x 0.4 mm – a size that makes the parts appropriate for even the thinnest of designs.

The SC4509 is a step-up converter for white LED backlight applications with an integrated Schottky diode in a 2 x 2 x 0.8mm package. The SC4509 can drive up to five white LEDs in series to provide a tiny solution for small LCD displays. The device's built-in Schottky diode saves board space and reduces costs while still providing efficiencies of over 80%, which is better than most competitive devices with integrated Schottky and similar to many that require an external Schottky.
Semtech, a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors for communications, portable devices, computers, and industrial equipment, today announced the SC560, a family of ultra small, dual-output low dropout (LDO) linear regulators for Lithium-ion battery-powered designs such as mobile phones. The SC560 devices measure 1.5 x 1.5 x 0.6mm (MLPQ-UT-8) and feature a dropout of only 200mV maximum at a current of 200mA per output. The SC560 devices are optimized for battery-powered applications with a very low 100µA quiescent current (both outputs enabled), and a 0.1µA shutdown current. The input voltage range for all devices is 2.5V to 5.5V.
Semtech has announced the SC416, a dual-output, synchronous step-down controller with comprehensive features to track start-up and shutdown voltages in notebook computers, portable devices, tablet PCs, and embedded applications. The SC416 requires battery input in the 5V-25V range. The highly accurate outputs are regulated to within 1% of specified levels and are adjustable from 0.75V to 5V, or can be configured with pre-set voltages consisting of 1.8V or 1.5V for VOUT1 and 1.25V or 1.05V for VOUT2. The SC416 is provided in a 4 mm x 4 mm MLP package that is WEEE and RoHS compliant.
Semtech has announced the SC196 and SC196A, two new 1.5A DC-DC step-down (buck) regulators. Both devices feature high efficiency due to low quiescent current and power save modes to target the lower voltage levels needed for next-generation portable device designs. The SC196 uses external feedback to allow the output voltage to be set anywhere between 1.0V and the input voltage for ultimate design flexibility. The SC196A uses two programming pins to set the output voltage to 1.0V, 1.05V, 1.2V or 1.8V. The voltage control pins can be hard-wired for a constant voltage, or they can be tied to a microcontroller and dynamically switched for applications that use digital power control such as microcontrollers that have lower sleep-state supply voltages. The input voltage ranges of 2.5V to 5.5V for SC196, and 2.7V to 5.5V for SC196A enable the use of many standard voltage rails, including Li-Ion batteries, as a supply for these devices.
Semtech Corp has announced the EClamp239xP, the newest addition to Semtech's EMIClampTM protection portfolio. The EClamp239xP is a series of inductor-capacitor (L-C) protection devices featuring greater attenuation, steeper amplitude roll-off, and lower clamping voltage needed for high-performance color LCD interfaces in GSM and CDMA-based 3G handsets. The EClamp239xP series includes the four-line EClamp2394P, the six-line EClamp2396P and the eight-line EClamp2398P. The EClamp239xP's 5-pole L-C filter network has inductor values of 19nH and capacitor values of 12pF, enabling the devices to offer minimal attenuation in the passband and 30 dB minimum attenuation from 800 MHz to 2.7 GHz, ideal for 3G-based mobile phones.
Semtech has announced two new additions to its RailClamp family of low capacitance protection devices that provide system designers a new option for adding critical power protection to high-speed lines without the high clamping voltage and high capacitance limitations of competing solutions. RClamp1502B and RClamp2402B are designed with an ultra-low capacitance of 0.6pF to protect high-speed data lines without signal attenuation. The devices also have low clamping voltages to reduce stress on the protected IC that are very susceptible to ESD and CDE threats. The RClamp1502B protects two 15V lines and the RClamp2402B protects two 24V lines. Both devices protect two lines and are targeted for interfaces operating up to 1GHz, such as IEEE 1394 (FireWire), high-power USB, or ADSL input/output lines.
Semtech has announced it will work with prominent frequency control products vendor Rakon Limited (Auckland, New Zealand, NZX:RAK) to develop IEEE 1588 Version 2 (V2)-based timing solutions. Employing Semtech's advanced timing platform and Rakon's oscillator technology, these solutions will deliver consistent, cost-effective, timing synchronization for next-generation packet switched network equipment.
Semtech Corp has announced the SC620, an octal, I2C-controlled LED driver. The SC620 is designed to provide regulated currents for powering a wide range of LEDs, including white, red, blue, green or yellow, with different forward voltages. The SC620 is designed to drive the LED backlights for small to medium size LCDs in portable systems that use rechargeable lithium ion/polymer batteries, but may also be applied in systems with a fixed 5V or 3.3V bus. Its low 150mV current sink dropout voltage makes it especially suited for use with LEDs that have forward voltages that are less than the system supply voltage. All LEDs are connected in parallel, with power coming from the system battery or available power rail and each cathode connected to an independent current sink.
