(Nasdaq: PMCS), the premier Internet infrastructure semiconductor solution provider, and Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENTR), a leading provider of silicon and software solutions to enable connected home entertainment networking, today announced they are collaborating to develop an innovative and cost-effective solution for delivering >100Mb/s broadband connectivity to each customer in MSO fiber deployments. The companies will demonstrate this concept during the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Denver, Colorado, October 28-30, 2009. PMC-Sierra Named One of the Ten Most Competitive Optical Communications Brands in ChinaPMC-Sierra, Inc the Internet infrastructure semiconductor solution provider, today announced the company was selected as one of the top 10 competitive telecom brands in the optical communications industry in China by the Asia-Pacific Optical Communications Committee and the China Institute of Communications. The award was presented at the recent 2009 China Optical Communications Development and Competitiveness Forum (ODC'09) in Beijing.
PMC-Sierra Multi-service convergence platform enables end-to-end OTN deployment in Carrier networksPMC-Sierra has launched the PM5420 HyPHY 20G and PM5426 HyPHY 10G devices to enable the convergence of high-bandwidth data, video and voice services over Optical Transport Network (ITU-T G.709 OTN) based Metro infrastructures. OTN is the industry's choice as the replacement technology for SONET/SDH, providing optimised transport of IP services. The global transition, however, has been delayed by the need for low-power, cost-effective service gateways with simultaneous protocol support for Carrier Ethernet, video, storage area network (SAN), OTN and SONET/SDH at the network edge. ECI Telecom selects PMC-Sierra's Wireless Backhaul Transport ArchitecturePMC-Sierra has announced that ECI Telecom, a global provider of networking infrastructure solutions, has selected PMC-Sierra's ADM 622, ARROW 2488, TEMAP 84FDL and HDLIU 32 devices for its BroadGate (BG) Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) family, including the BG-20 and BG-30. ECI's BG family has helped position the company as the number-one ranked transmission equipment vendor in India for the past three consecutive years according to Voice & Data, a leading telecom magazine in India. PMC-Sierra's chipset architecture provides ECI's BG family with a cost-effective and highly scalable µMSPP platform that enables operators to easily provision new Ethernet-based services and maintain high network resiliency, making it an ideal solution particularly for emerging markets.
