KOA's UR73D-series thick film shunts are designed for current detection in power supplies, motor control and industrial automation applications. The special face down construction (mounting of the resistive element on the lower face of the component) yields low T.C.R. ratings for this series. The resistors are designed for operation from -55°C to +125°C.
KOA's special anti-sulfuration resistors are intended to be used under harsh environment with high level of contamination. KOA's anti-sulfuration chip resistors apply high reliable material to the inner top electrodes. This material is a new development and has extremely high sulfuration-proof characteristics.
KOA has today declared that it has been awarded a 2011 Total Cost of Ownership Supplier Award from Celestica. Celestica's awards program recognizes suppliers that support Celestica's TCOO sourcing strategy to provide its customers with the best possible supply chain solution for their products.
The new TLRH power shunt developed by KOA is now available in the sizes 2512 inch with a power rating of 2W, 2010 inch with 1W power rating and 0805 with 250 mW power rating at distributor Rutronik. Its enhanced power rating is the result of the sandwich construction. The metal plate carrier laminated on top of the resistive layer acts as an efficient heat sink and avoids hot spots.
KOA expands its range of ultra flat power inductors. The PL inductor series with ferrite core features a maximum height of 0.5 mm. The new size 1008 inch (2520 metric) covers the inductor values from 0.33 µH up to 4.7 µH. Due to the very low ohmic DC resistance down to 0.06 Ω, the allowed current goes up to 1100 mA, despite its very small dimensions.
KOA has introduced the new LT73V thermal sensor. The product is targeting the Automotive market, with its thin film technology providing high accuracy at low cost. The LT73V also guarantees high reliability and stability over time.
The WK73 wide terminal resistor is now available in size 1206 (3216 metric). The 90° rotated design has several advantages compared to standard resistor footprints. The 3 times higher power rating of 750mW is the most visible. It is based on the improved heat dissipation through the solder joint. The much higher terminal strength of the WK73 relates to the bigger solder pad. Additionally the lower distance between the terminals results in less expansion stress on the solder joints.
The CCF-UM is a Universal Modular Fuse (UMF) with fusing characteristics according to IEC standard 60127-4, with current ratings from 400 mA up to 6.3 A. Its voltage rating is equal for AC and DC at 125 V. The circuit protector provides a high breaking capacity of up to 63 A at 125 V, and provides superior anti surge characteristics. KOA's long experience and original technology guarantees stable fusing characteristics.
KOA has expanded its RN73H series of high precision thin film flat chip resistors with size 0402 and higher ohmic values in all other sizes. The RN73H series provides excellent long term stability, typically below 0.05% resistance change over 1000 hours. The typical resistance change due to soldering heat is below 0.01%.
KOA has developed flat chip resistors with extremely high resistivity against sulphurated environments, high humidity and high temperature. The enhanced structure is based on a metal glaze thick film. Tests in H2S environment showed an outstanding performance compared to standard products.
The requirements on product reliability in the automotive sector are among the toughest in industry. Targeting these demands KOA introduced the chip Varistor series NV73DL for automotive applications. The complete AEC-Q200 test data is available now for the new Varistor series.
The need for miniaturization, increased reliability and operation at elevated ambient temperatures has driven the development of ceramic based substrates and packages for electronics. Due to rising demand KOA offers foundry services to their customers to provide LTCC substrate solutions for various applications. LTCC stands for "Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic".
Ulli Lochmann, President and General Sales Manager of KOA Europe GmbH in Dägeling, will resign from his duties for personal and private reasons. His successor as President will be Yuji Iwasa, formerly Executive VP KOA Europe. Mr. Iwasa will be supported by Sabine Wagner, appointed Executive VP for Business Planning, and Dr. Arne Albertsen, who will be in charge of the Sales & Marketing, the Design-in and the Customer Service as new General Sales Manager.
The needs for miniaturization, increased reliability and operation at elevated ambient temperatures have driven the development of ceramic based substrates and packages for electronics during the past decade. Among other technologies, LTCC have proven their superior performance in many applications, comprising high temperature automotive as well as high reliability medical and high frequency communications applications. Another application area is the production of packages for micro mechanical electrical systems (MEMS).
For anyone who requires low resistance together with small inductance for the precise measurement of current, the TLR chiptype current sensing resistors from KOA are particularly suitable. The series covers the sizes from 1206 (0.5 W) to 2512 (2W), with resistance values from 1 mOhm to 20 mOhm.
The new PSI and PSB series power shunts from KOA are particularly suited for the precise measurement of high currents. The rated power of the metal plate design resistors ranges from 3 to 6 watts at 105 °C termination temperature, and some models offer reliability benefits in high temperature and power load cycling environments by a specially designed shape of the landing pads. Typical applications comprise ECUs, inverters, and industrial automation equipment.
